We are looking for a Controller to oversee and manage financial operations of the organization.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise Finance and accounting staff

  • Ensure accurate organization-wide revenue recognition according to GAAP
  • Work with team of project based Financial Analysts to ensure appropriate and accurate financial information in coordination with billable hours service model
  • Manage monthly accounting close.  Prepare accurate and timely monthly and quarterly financial statements and associated reports for organizational leadership team and board
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, government standards and other client contract and grant provisions/reporting, in addition to federal and state reporting requirements
  • Manage financial accounting software (DelTek Costpoint), generate cost allocations and general ledger account structure
  • Provide consistent cash flow management, forecasts and analysis
  • Oversee and support accurate development and tracking of budgets and actuals for all contracts
  • Coordinate, oversee and ensure continuous improvement of accounting and finance processes and procedures; review and audit internal accounting functions
  • Develop and/or customize financial reports to assist Centers and Offices in tracking contract and grant budgets and spending.
  • Encourage constructive working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Ideal Candidates will possess

  • 7 or more years’ experience in finance and/or accounting
  • 2 years’ experience supervising staff
  • Preference given to candidates with: 2 or more years of experience in each of the following: professional services firms and in government contracting in education or a related industry with similar funding streams – federal and foundation
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting, CPA or CMA a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented
  • Able to communicate clearly and develop strong working relationships across an organization

 

Physical Demands/Conditions

  • Sit at a desk or in meetings for long periods of time
  • Manual and finger dexterity for operation of a personal computer
  • Ability to lift or move moderate sized packages (up to 25 pounds)
